Résumé
This review explores the current state of research on tool management in manufacturing, focusing on digital twin (DT) technologies, including digital shadows and models. The primary objective is to organize existing knowledge, identify key trends and gaps, and provide guidance for future research perspectives. By examining various applications such as tool wear monitoring, production optimization, inventory management, and tool traceability, the review highlights how these technologies can support and enhance tool management. Despite significant advancements, challenges persist, particularly in the effective integration of DT systems with existing manufacturing infrastructures and the processing of large volumes of real-time data. These challenges arise from the difficulty of synchronizing data from various sources and the computational demands required to ensure accurate, real-time decision-making. The article concludes by proposing future research directions to address these challenges and support the development of an effective DT for tool management in manufacturing.
