Résumé

This chapter focuses on the thermal stress restrained specimen test. This test investigates the behaviour of bituminous mixtures under a coupled thermo-mechanical loading. Results obtained at failure are generally used to evaluate the cracking performance of mixtures at low temperature. The first part is dedicated to a literature review about this test. In the second section of the chapter, the round-robin test organized by Task Group 2 of RILEM TC 272 Phase and Interphase behaviour of bituminous Materials is presented. Eight laboratories participated and tested the same bituminous mixture, BBSG. The first objective was obviously to compare results and possible discrepancy. The second objective was also to investigate the three-dimensional behaviour of mixtures during such test. The last part of the chapter is devoted to modelling of bituminous mixtures behaviour during this thermo-mechanical coupling test.
