Developing a Performance Indicator System for Tool Management for Manufacturing Factories

In the competitive landscape of the manufacturing industry, particularly with the emergence of Industry 4.0, effective tool management is essential for enhancing productivity in factories, especially those specializing in mechanical manufacturing that rely on a wide range of tools, and increasing operational performance. This article proposes a performance indicators system aiming at evaluating factories in terms of tool management effectiveness. One of the goals is to reduce the time spent on recurring issues, notably those related to tool traceability, allowing teams to focus more on value-Added activities. Our methodology is based on a literature review, interviews performed with managers from an institutional factory and an SME, and finally, a selection of indicators tailored to the manufacturing context.
