Abstract
Satellite launch providers require screening and testing process of the electrochemical cells used in the construction of batteries as a part of their safety review. In this work, an instrument specially designed for the screening and testing of Li-ion and Ni-MH cells is proposed. The system replaces traditional, high cost equipment with a dedicated charger/discharger distributed over two custom PCBs. The system was calibrated using a high-resolution reference multimeter to improve measurement accuracy. Preliminary results indicate that the instrument consistently produces accurate measurements with uncertainties maintained within acceptable limits, demonstrating its effectiveness for efficient cell screening in battery assembly.
