Abstract

The majority of reinforced concrete (RC) beams are cast monolithically with slabs and the use of externally bonded (EB) fiber-reinforced polymers (FRPs) in U-wrapping schemes is frequently employed in practice for shear strengthening. However, the primary issue is still the early failure of FRP as a result of debonding. The literature has proposed a number of anchoring solutions, including NSM rods, FRP extension, FRP insertion, FRP horizontal, FRP rope, FRP fan, and metallic anchors to upgrade and restore the capacity of FRP shear-strengthened beams and to postpone or avoid the debonding failure mode. Researchers have recognized the advantages of various anchoring approaches; however, there is debate on how well these techniques work to increase the FRP shear contribution. The current work is a cutting-edge analysis of experimental experiments conducted to look at anchoring methods for FRP shear-strengthened beams. Based on the characteristics that might significantly affect the behavior of FRP shear-strengthened beams, the different anchoring procedures are assessed in terms of failure mode and FRP shear strength.
