Abstract

The application of green power plants connected to the grid could be one solution in reducing the use of fossil fuels but it may result in the creation of problems such as ill-conditioned systems. In this thesis we will simulate and study the power flow for large and ill-conditioned systems. In order to optimize the power delivery, we must first explain the causes of this phenomenon. Subsequently, we have to find or model this kind of system and finally solve them and compare the different approaches. The methods we are going to study are Newton-Raphson, Levenberg-Marquardt and four new methods that will be called weighted Levenberg-Marquardt (LMLV, LMLT, LMRQ and LMRP). To validate these new methods, we will verify that they converge towards the same point and compare the results to know and already published solutions, and finally, find out which one offers the best convergence.
