Abstract

The evaluation of the thermomechanical behavior of bitumen and mastic (mixture of bitumen and fillers) in the linear viscoelastic field was carried out at the Laboratory of Roads and Bituminous Materials (LCMB) of the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS). Using a new device called ring shear rheometer (RCA), the rheological properties of bitumen and mastic were measured under various temperature and frequency conditions (from -25 ° C to 45 ° C and from, 0,03 Hz to 10 Hz). The main objective of this study is to evaluate the influence of the incorporation of post-consumer glass particles on the behavior of mastic at low levels of deformation. The influence of the following parameters on the behavior of mastics is analyzed: i) characteristics of the fines (concentration, granulometric curve, nature), ii) nature of the binder and iii) addition of an anti-stripping agent. The complex reinforcing coefficient RM * was used to compare the mechanical performance of post-consumer glass mastics with a limestone-based reference mastic. The results showed that post-consumer glass fillers are suitable for use in a pavement structure. Finally, the 2S2P1D rheological model was used to simulate the linear viscoelastic behavior of bitumen and bituminous mastics tested during the project.
