The present energetic constraints compel the researchers to conceive and optimize the devices that allow the production and consumption of energy. Power electronic converters have always been an important stage in the energetic conversion schemes. Throughout this thesis, we’ll present the various types of power multilevel converters, as well as one of the most recent converters with highly interesting features, namely the PUC (Packed U Cells) converter. This converter may be used as an inverter or a rectifier. It has also been tested in three-phase conversion and active filtering topology. Within the frame of this project, we have simulated this converter under Matlab/Simulink environment and in real time simulation with OPAL-RT real time simulator. Many control techniques have been tested whose advantages and drawbacks are presented in this report.
