To meet the changing demands of users of telecommunications systems, operators and networks providers implement several technologies. The deployment of new networks and new cells, including femtocells, is one of the most used technologies. Indeed, they provided the unloading of macrocells while meeting the needs of users. However, the coexistence of these cells brings a big challenge to operators for both network quality and network performance. Thus, in order to improve network performance, several methods and algorithms have been developed.
This project aims to develop an algorithm using Tabu Search method for improving the performance of a network. Thus, the network considered to implement the algorithm and analyse its features is a network containing both femtocells and a macrocell. This algorithm is mainly based on improving of the throughput and the use of resources such as bandwidth and power. Furthermore, a comparison of many simulations, using MATLAB, was also realised with other existing algorithms to better observe the properties of the algorithm implemented in the network.
