Abstract

The process capability estimation is a very important aspect in an industry where, day by day, the requirements are increasingly higher. In this perspective, this Master's thesis presents the development and evaluation of an original concept, based on Hasofer-Lind index, for estimating the capability of a process to fabricate elements with a tolerance of position and accompanied by a material condition (standard ASME Y14.5M). This is a multivariate capability index that monitors both the diameter of the elements and their positions drilled, while taking into account the number of elements in the pattern. To confirm this model, an in-situ study was performed on a machining center with multiple heads to compare our model with real data. In addition, a kinematic model of the machine tool was developed to determine the sources of variations observed in the study and to know the uncertainty associated with the machining process.
