Several works have been performed to analyze impact of factors related to the encoding or the access network on the video quality. Some of these works have restricted their study by developing models whose factors are essentially oriented towards a single aspect: either the video encoding or the access network. A more precise quality estimation, however, requires a non-discriminant approach taking into account these two types of factors at the same time. Few studies have looked at models that are based on a non-discriminating approach integrating the impact of packet loss in networks and the encoding bitrate on the quality of experience. The models proposed in these works do not generally take into account the impact of the video content movement, the change of resolution, and the codec.
In this thesis, we analyze the impact of factors related to encoding, video content and access network on the video quality. We propose two models for estimating the perceived quality of a video based on these factors. The first model is oriented towards taking into account the encoding factors. This model is distinguished from most other models in this category by taking into account impact of the video movement content, the change of resolution and the codec. The second model is distinguished from that of the International Telecommunication Union by taking into account impact of the video content movement. This model is based on a non-discriminatory approach. It is also distinguished from other models whose factors are oriented towards a single aspect: either video encoding or access network.
