Our research work is motivated by the desire of the companies of aeronautics across the world to reduce the expenses of design of control systems for helicopters. The purpose of our work is to integrate specifications (Handling Qualities), that the control system must respect, in its process of design to avoid situations of trial and error having harmful consequences on time and expense of elaboration of these systems. So, our choice carried on a structure of control in two loops, and the desired handling qualities were reflected by the judicious choice of a set of closed loop eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the system (in a state space from). Later, eigenstructure assignment is used for the design of control laws which give the best approximation of the desired eigenstructure.
Simulation on MATLAB and SIMULINK showed that the control system conceived by this method respects handling qualities specifications. Besides, simulation on HELISIM showed that control laws worked out by this design methodology can lead to actuators saturation. In effect, these control laws are aggressive. The improvement of this work can be made by searching a compromise between desired transfer functions and control effort requested to attain them.
