In order to reduce the use of fossil fuels, a hybrid system made up of solar energy and biomass has been proposed in order to produce domestic hot water (DHW) for an isolated population. It was possible to demonstrate that the techniques of producing DHW with solar and biomass are mature, and that the implementation of a hybrid system is possible. In addition, an explanation of the steps to follow in order to design a solar and biomass hybrid system was proposed. DH-calc_2-02b software was used to adequately forecast the need for DHW while taking into account water consumption habits. Subsequently, the TRNSYS software was used for modelling. The modelling principle is to design a DHW production system operating with thermal solar energy while adding a biomass boiler which will serve as auxiliary water heating. For the interpretation of the results, the Pyscripter software was used. In addition, it was a question of making the comparison with three studies which deal with the production of DHW with solar. The comparisons with the model of this master’s thesis were made according to the solar fraction and confirmed the correct functioning of the system. On the other hand, there are some points to explore such as the profitability study of the proposed model in order to know the period of return on investment. Also, an experimental study would make it possible to compare the experimental results and those obtained by TRNSYS.
