Since 1994, the ministère des Transports du Québec has been imposing contractual specifications on the international roughness index after the rehabilitation of a flexible pavement. This smoothing or resurfacing intervention, without correction of singularities, would not respect these contractual requirements.
This dissertation outlines the development of a tool that allows for the estimation of the postrehabilitation, longitudinal profile of a flexible pavement. This digital tool allows for the analysis of longitudinal profiles at different frequency scales, the determination of sublots that are not compliant to the contractual requirements and the estimation, by filtering, of the quality of the pavement’s evenness after resurfacing.
In this dissertation, filtering by Daubechies wavelets thresholding, with maximum number of vanishing moments equal to 3, was contemplated. The study of conventional estimation methods by thresholding has allowed us to develop an estimator by thresholding that is suited to a smoothing and resurfacing intervention, which mitigates the wavelet coefficients below a calculated threshold, while taking into account the frequential continuity.
The performances of the estimation operators outlined herein, with relation to the risk of estimation of the longitudinal profile post-rehabilitation and to the international roughness index, as well as to the preponderance of the new legislation on conventional methods, will be highlighted in a subsequent study.
