Abstract

The increase of consumption levels and the demographic growth contribute significantly to the daily generation of large volumes of waste in our society. Within this context, residual material management becomes a fundamental principle to cope with ever-increasing amounts of waste. Despite their technical development, valorization processes are often unable to receive all materials to be recovered. In addition, tools for decision making are insufficient to analyze changes in generated waste quantities. They don’t take into account, in the short or longterm, the increasing flows of residual materials. Along this same line of thinking, the project focuses on developing a new multi technology approach in order to support decision-making processes, aimed at assessing different waste management scenarios, the dynamics of waste generation and changes in by-product demand. The results obtained show that waste management, considered as a set of mutual relations, allows a better understanding of the system and facilitates decision-making process.
