Context: The lack of visibility and monitoring of underground transportation operations leads to numerous coordination problems and leaves mining companies without higher financial gains. In recent years, the arrival of new technologies has made it possible to counter the lack of visibility present in underground mines. The acquisition and integration of a large amount of data collected by different systems must be analyzed in order to provide decision support. The biggest problem when it comes to implementing new technologies in mines is not knowing how to transform the information (data collected) into workable solutions.
Objectives: The present document proposes the creation of decision support tools to increase the visibility and monitoring of work performed in underground mines. In addition, this project will allow the implementation of 4.0 projects in the underground mining field.
Methodology: To achieve a technological project in the mining field, a study of the company's needs was carried out by conducting meetings in different departments. Then, various projects of performance indicators were carried out with the most interested departments.
Results: This document allows the creation and visualization of performance indicators, such as overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and cycle time, using a system that centralizes information. In addition, there is the introduction of an automated email alert system for monitoring liquid levels and equipment temperatures.
Originality: This document presents a methodology for creating reproducible decision support tools for different underground mine sites.
