Résumé
During cold spray deposition, titanium particles undergo severe plastic deformation and rapid strain accumulation upon impact, resulting in complex lattice reorientation processes. In this study, the deformation behavior of cold prayed commercially pure (CP)-Ti (Grade 4) was analyzed to understand the origin of band structure under such conditions. Transmission Kikuchi diffraction (TKD) revealed that the band structures, primarily concentrated near the splat edges, are kink bands rather than conventional twins. Analysis of the pole figures indicated that the kink bands predominantly rotate about the 11¯00, while rotation about the 112¯1 occurs less frequently as a secondary mode. The combined microstructural evidence suggests that band structures in cold sprayed Ti develop through a kink mechanism governed by the buildup of dislocations, reflecting the intense localized strain and high strain rate conditions inherent to the cold spray process.
