The following document presents a detailed study of both single phase and three-phase dual active bridge converter better known for DAB topologies. The literature review and the topology chosen for the battery charger were completed taking into consideration the grid to vehicles and vehicles to grid power flow directions. Hence, modeling steps for the single phase and the three-phase DAB connected to the grid through an active rectifier is developed and described. Moreover, the efficiency evaluation of the DC to DC Dual Active Bridge converter were discussed. Based on DAB theoretical equations and the loss model of power semiconductor devices, full analysis of system efficiency considering various control parameters such as duty cycles, output power, and phase shifts were presented and analysed. Simulation results are presented to validate the performance of three-phase DAB model for high power transfer considering loss model of the power converter and efficiency computation.
