Abstract

Nowadays, the ambition to develop new eco-friendly technologies is very present, especially when the effects of gas emissions are more and more visible. LTA Aerostructures (LTAA) has the ambition to develop a hybrid airship for transporting large quantities of raw materials to isolated regions in Northern Quebec. The hybrid airships will be propelled using an integrated electric propulsion system (IEPS). However, IEPS are still in development for aeronautics applications and so further studies are required to implement these systems. The objective of this research is to perform a stability analysis of the IEPS of the LTAA-10 airship. To accomplish this objective, the stability analysis using small-gain stability criteria is applied to analyze with simplicity and without the use of transfer functions. This stability analysis requires the matrix of impedances of the source and the matrix of admittances of the load, in dq reference frame, which are both obtained with an impedance extraction algorithm using three-phase voltages or currents injections. Overall, the stability analysis with the combined methods was functional. The main recommendations are to add anti-aliasing filters in order to improve the results of the impedance extraction algorithm and to find new mathematical norms that are less restrictive to improve the stability analysis using small-gain stability criteria.
