There is consensus that an MES is a key element for a manufacturing company that needs to improve its productivity, product quality and maintain control over its operating cost. However, the project implementation requires the dedication of time and money in addition
to the collaboration between several groups of people from different disciplines.
The main contribution of this dissertation is to propose a method for the systematic analysis of the business processes of a manufacturing company in accordance with the integration model proposed by ISA-95 standard and using the BPMN notation as the modeling language. In this method, an integrative approach is proposed to identify the resources of the company to be included in the MES model business processes and validate what has been configured in the MES.
This integration was validated in the context of a real manufacturing company. The validation process concluded that the modeling of three levels of detail aligned with ISA-95 models, facilitates collaboration between stakeholders from different disciplines and identifies all the elements necessary for the configuration and the process execution in a MES.
In addition, with the use of B2MML language developed by ISA-95, it was possible to quantify the correspondence between the elements identified in the modeling and MES.
