Abstract

Industrial activities including mining influence lifestyles by their material needs. The extraction of buried materials is subdivided into four phases: exploration, construction, mining and closure, which are fragmented into operations. However, these operations make mining a niche of risks responsible for environmental issues to manage. These risks vary according to the type of operation, the sensitivity of the environmental factors, the interactions between them and the life cycle. To reduce their occurrence, environmental management standards and territorial legislation require the implementation of management systems before the installation of any production unit, mainly environmental impact studies. They consist of identifying risks or their sources, pre-determining mitigation measures and establishing action plans. There are many investigations to develop better management approaches, but, unfortunately, the risks in this active environment are still negative and difficult to eradicate. However, the advent of new technologies in recent decades has favoured the emergence of dynamic systems mainly geared towards production optimization. But, possessing the innovative property of a non-compartmentalized management, dynamic systems associated with environmental management offer a new management tool that integrates the evolution of the system, its components and the risks generated. The majority of environmental factors being dependent on water, source of known vulnerability, the results will be structured specifically around. The contributions are divided into three parts after the bibliographic review. The first part consists in developing optimal strategies for environmental assessment and maintenance of the production system in its dynamic context by integrating the phases of the life cycle from To to Tn+p. Several steps were used to qualitatively and quantitatively determine the risks over time and to conduct a continuous environmental assessment of the system once the mine is in operation. This achievement allowed a refined and up-to-date characterization of the affected factors. Following this, the investigation on dynamic systems has demonstrated its mine-compatible properties to environmental management. This on the: decision-making, operational modelling, digitization of risk communication, planning of mitigation measures and risk resolution. Finally, the third part is a practical case that promotes the validation of the potential of dynamic systems to an existing environmental management practices. A temporal risk management model, including those derived from effluents, was produced. The analyses show a level of maturity of this sector to integrate time, retroactive and interactive aspects in environmental management. This new approach meets the needs of the principle of continuous improvement, takes into account dynamic data corresponding to the level of development of the mines and, thus, promotes the link with international standards.
