The popularity of Six Sigma across the industry has Foster the explosion of training opportunities for certification. These certifications are not obtained easily and trained people are not uniformly effective. Employees, once formed, do not understand the tools given their highly analytical in nature and are often confused by the tremendous amount of opportunity analysis for solving a problem. This can lead to demotivation, loss of energy, time and money. This work aims to find an alternative to scientific rigor while promoting best resolution capability so as to increase the pool of change agent. This requires more simple concepts and more visual than mathematical analysis.
The Black Belt training of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) was chosen as a basic reference given its notorious reputation. Tools of computational nature of this training have been adapted and the rigorous use of statistics is no longer necessary. All concepts of this new prototype require no post- secondary knowledge according to the Ministry of Education of Quebec. Moreover, a selection of tools was also performed in order to lessen the confusion related to this selection when solving a problem.
Expert judgment on the prototype shows that it would be preferable to about 45% against training on the use of conventional tools. The path seems promising to try. The subsequent challenge to this work will be to introduce training in industry and capture the performance gap between professionals of continuous improvement.
