Abstract

Companies today face many challenges. Global competition, technological acceleration, the information technology are just a few factors that changed the world of work. Companies to meet these growing challenges, involve new forms of work organization, including virtual teams. This form of work organization among others allows them to bring their best talents and make them work together simultaneously and no matter where they are on the planet. This way companies can accelerate innovation and reduce development costs. By cons, virtual teams raise several challenges in terms of innovation management, coordination, communications, to name only those. In this context, how can we manage creativity within virtual teams? This thesis proposes firstly an analysis of the various contributors to the performance and / or creativity of the VT present in the current literature. Subsequently, the memory lingers in the study of CK theory, recent theory for structuring and organizing the creative thinking to generate innovative concepts. Based on these analyzes and studies, demonstration is performed demonstrating that conceptually CK method can be useful in the creative process of VT. To complete this walkthrough, the approach is based on the IPO model (Inputs, Processes, Outputs) (McGrath, 1964). To limit the scope of this project, all Inputs, Processes and Outputs related to VT analyzed were grouped into three themes that are coordination, communication and knowledge management. This demo allows you to make a series of conceptual proposals that address the challenges and issues faced by VT during the realization of a creative process. In addition, the project has to implement CK theory in a traditional development team. Observations made during the application of CK theory provided additional proposals that might apply in the context of VT. With all of these proposals, this thesis also provides an application and evaluation protocol that may lead to experiment CK theory in an VT. The field of knowledge on virtual teams and creativity is still relatively restrained, this thesis is in this sense a general exploration of the field of knowledge and is intended to provide additional insight to guide future research in this topic. The proposed application protocol and tools and techniques respond to a more pragmatic need in this business of being able to apply methods and processes to support the VT in their creative process.
